Günther Bornkamm was a German New Testament scholar belonging to the school of Rudolf Bultmann and a Professor of New Testament at the University of Heidelberg. Under Adolf Hitler, he opposed the nazification of the Protestant churches and their unification into the movement of the 'German Christians'. His post-war fame as a scholar rested on his effort to separate fiction from facts in his reconstruction of Jesus' life and in his subsequent treatment of the gospel of Matthew. His brother was the ecclesiastical historian and Luther scholar Heinrich Bornkamm.

Carl Friedrich Pöppelmann (1697–1750) was an 18th-century Saxon architect and son of Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann.

Martin Broszat was a German historian specializing in modern German social history. As director of the Institut für Zeitgeschichte in Munich from 1972 until his death, he became known as one of the world's most eminent scholars of Nazi Germany.

Klaus-Dieter Neubert is a retired East German rowing coxswain, who had his best achievements in the coxed pairs, together with Wolfgang Gunkel and Jörg Lucke. They won the European title in 1971 and the Olympic gold medal in 1972, and finished second at the 1973 European and 1974 World Championships. Neubert placed fourth at the 1968 Olympics with another crew.
