List of Famous people born in Poland

Arthur Ruppin was a Zionist thinker and leader. He was one of the founders of the city of Tel Aviv. He directed Berlin's Bureau for Jewish Statistics and Demography from 1902 to 1907. From 1908 on, he was the director of the Palestine Office of the Zionist Organization in Jaffa, organizing Zionist colonisation in Palestine. In 1926 Ruppin joined the faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and founded the sociology department. A building there is now named in his honor. His most celebrated sociological work is The Jews in the Modern World (1934).

Bronisław Huberman was a Jewish Polish violinist. He was known for his individualistic and personal interpretations and was praised for his tone color, expressiveness, and flexibility. The Gibson ex-Huberman Stradivarius violin which bears his name was stolen twice and recovered once during the period in which he owned the instrument. Huberman is also remembered for founding the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and thus providing refuge from the Third Reich for nearly 1,000 European Jews.

Ingrid Pitt was a Polish-British actress, author and writer best known for her work in horror films of the 1960s and 1970s.

Hans-Ulrich Klose is a German politician from the Social Democratic Party and a former member of the German Federal parliament. Klose was the First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg from 1974 up to 1981, serving as President of the Bundesrat in 1979/80.

Natalia Sadowska is a Polish draughts player who ranked third at the Women's Draughts European Championship in 2010 and whose successes go back to 2007. She is a highly rated women's player for Poland and was second at the 2015 Women's World Draughts Championship in Wuhan. In 2016 won title women's world draughts champion in the match with Olga Kamyshleeva. In 2018 won title women's world draughts champion in the match with Zoja Golubeva.

Klaus Bonhoeffer was a German jurist and resistance fighter against the Nazi régime who was executed after the July 1944 plot to kill Hitler.

Jan Feliks Szyszko (help·info) was a Polish forester, university teacher and politician who served as Minister of Environment in the cabinets of Jerzy Buzek (1997–1999), Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz (2005–2007), Jarosław Kaczyński (2007), Beata Szydło (2015–2017) and Mateusz Morawiecki (2017–2018).

Karl August Fritz Schiller was a German economist and politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). From 1966 to 1972, he was Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and from 1971 to 1972 Federal Minister of Finance. He was the inventor of the magic square, depicting Economic equilibrium, and of the Concerted activity to reflate the German market. He is thus seen as one of the most influential German economists beside Ludwig Erhard.

Ernest Willimowski was a German–Polish football player, who played as a forward. He ranks among the best goalscorers in the history of both the Poland national team and Polish club football. After re-taking German citizenship following the invasion of Poland, he also played for the Germany national team.
