Jurij "Jure" Zdovc is a Slovenian former professional basketball player and coach for Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and the EuroLeague. As a player, he was a 1.98 m (6'6") tall point guard, who began his professional playing career with the Yugoslav Second Division club Smelt Olimpija.

Polona Hercog is a Slovenian professional tennis player. Her career-high WTA rankings are No. 35 in singles and No. 56 in doubles. She has won five WTA Tour titles; three in singles and two in doubles. Hercog also enjoyed success on the ITF Women's Circuit, winning 14 singles and five doubles titles. She is the Slovenian No. 1 in women's tennis.

In Slovenia, he is also famous for his political commentaries and civic engagement. Jančar's novels, essays and short stories have been translated into 21 languages and published in Europe, Asia and the United States. The most numerous translations are into German, followed by Czech and Croatian translations. His dramas have also been staged by a number of foreign theatres, while back home they are frequently considered the highlights of the Slovenian theatrical season. He lives and works in Ljubljana.
