List of Famous people born in Kingdom of Denmark

Kirsten Thorup, a Danish author, was born in Gelsted, Funen, Denmark in 1942 and now lives in Copenhagen. She is the author of three poetry collections, a volume of short stories, and three novels including Baby which has been translated into English. She has also written for films, television, and radio. Her novel, Den lange sommer, was published in Denmark in 1979.

Suzanne Preis Brøgger Zeruneith is a Danish writer, a novelist, poet and journalist. Her first book Fri os fra kærligheden has been translated into c. 20 languages. Since 1997 she has been a member of the Danish Academy.

Per Højholt was a Danish poet. Højholt had his debut in 1948 when he published "De nøgne", a series of poems which appeared in the magazine Heretica. His first collection was Hesten og solen, featuring religiously inspired poems. A major work came with Poetens hoved which appeared in 1963. This collection took a Modernist stance and meant a break with late Symbolism. Although a highly experimental and unorthodox writer, he became a popular poet. This is not least due to Gittes monologer. He toured the country with his recitals of these monologues which received considerable attention.

Robert Julius Tommy Jacobsen was a Danish sculptor and painter. The Danish Robert Award award is named in his honor.

Mogens Lykketoft is a Danish politician and a leading figure in the Social Democratic Party.

Svend Hersleb Grundtvig was a Danish literary historian and ethnographer. He was one of the first systematic collectors of Danish traditional music, and he was especially interested in Danish folk songs. He began the large project of editing Danish ballads. He also co-edited Icelandic ballads. He was the son of N. F. S. Grundtvig.

Hans Christian Branner was a Danish novelist, essayist and playwright. He was a leading writer of the post-World War II period in Denmark and a founder member of the Danish Academy. His work dealt with the themes of power, fear and loneliness and earned him several literary awards including De Gyldne Laurbær, the Holberg Medal (1954) and the Danish Playwrights' Honorary Award (1961).

Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt is a Danish badminton player specializing in singles. She won a bronze medal at the 2010 BWF World Junior Championships in women's doubles with Sandra-Maria Jensen. Kjærsfeldt also won a gold medal in 2015 European Games.

Olaf Poulsen was perhaps the best-known Danish comedic stage actor of his time. He was famous for playing such roles as Nick Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Falstaff, among others for the Royal Danish Theatre. His performance as Old Ekdal in an 1885 production of Henrik Ibsen's The Wild Duck was particularly acclaimed. Olaf was by accounts an outsize personality, unafraid to insult wealthy or noble men even when insulting a man in public was a crime in Denmark. Five minutes of his improvisation on a 1913 film reel were described at the time as "the best film ever to leave a Danish factory."
