José Abelardo Gutiérrez Alanya, known by his nickname "Tongo", is a Peruvian singer-songwriter and actor. He began his music career in 1980 as a singer of Peruvian cumbia, a type of popular music. Tongo was largely unknown outside of his musical niche until his song "La pituca", whose theme focuses on social status and inequality, attained national notability at the start of the twenty-first century. In 2010, Peruvian newspaper El Comercio listed Tongo as one of the most popular artists in Peruvian show business.

María Luisa Aguilar Hurtado, was the first professional astronomer of Peru. She studied at the Institute of Mathematics and Physics of the National University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru. She graduated as an astronomer from the National University of La Plata, Argentina. In 1981, motivated to develop astronomy at a professional level, she founded and served as director of the "Astronomy and Astrophysics Seminar", nowadays called "Permanent Astronomy and Space Sciences Seminar" of the National University of San Marcos.

Raúl Manuel Pacheco Mendoza is a Peruvian long-distance runner. He was born in Santa Fe de Jauja. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the men's marathon, finishing in 21st place. Raul Pacheco placed 6th at the Rotterdam Marathon (2:11:01) in 2015, set a new national record and qualified for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. In July 2015, he placed second in the Toronto Pan American Games with a time of 2:17:13, and took home Peru's inaugural medal in a marathon at the Pan American games.

Manuel Arturo Odría Amoretti was a military officer who served as the 34th President of Peru, essentially ruling as a military dictator.

Johnny Martín Vegas Fernández is a Peruvian former professional footballer. He is currently the 3rd-highest-goalscoring goalkeeper of all time with 45 goals in all competitions – 30 from penalties and 9 from outfield goals.

César Hinostroza is a Peruvian judge, lawyer, and fugitive who was a judge in the Peruvian Supreme Court from 2 January 2017 until his escape on July 11, 2018, in the midst of the political crisis in Peru. He is known for being involved in the CNM Audios scandal, a corruption scandal which led wh his escape. When he escaped on 17 October, he was arrested following a warrant by Interpol, put was provisionally released on April 11, 2019.
