He grew up in County Durham in North East England, and first became interested in acting through Shakespeare productions at his grammar school. I always play very colourful characters, often a bit crazy, despotic, psychotic".

Hitoshi Goto is a Japanese politician and former governor of Yamanashi Prefecture. He was formerly a Democratic Party member of the House of Representatives in the Diet. He resigned from the Democratic Party and the Diet in November 2014 so that he could contest the January 2015 Yamanashi Gubernatorial election as an independent.
