She has won one singles title and 24 doubles titles on the WTA Tour, as well as four singles and seven doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. On 23 October 2017, she reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 10. On 10 June 2019, she peaked at No. 1 in the WTA doubles rankings.

In June 2011, he stepped down from club coaching, leaving his managerial role at Aston Villa, following frequent hospitalisation over heart problems.
