Karim Hossam is an Egyptian banned former professional tennis player. Hossam had a career-high ATP singles ranking of 337 achieved in September 2013. Hossam won 4 ITF events on the Futures circuit. He made his ATP main draw debut at the 2014 Qatar ExxonMobil Open, losing to the 5th seed Richard Gasquet 5–7, 1–6 in the first round. Hossam was banned from tennis for life and was fined $15,000 on 3 July 2018 for multiple match-fixing offences, after being found guilty on 16 corruption charges relating to offenses from 2013 to 2017 at ITF Futures tournaments. His younger brother Youssef Hossam was likewise banned from tennis for life, two years later, after he similarly was found guilty of 21 match-fixing and other corruption offences.

Sayed Darwish was an Egyptian singer and composer who was considered the father of Egyptian popular music and one of Egypt's greatest musicians and seen by some as its single greatest composer.

Reem Bassiouney is an Egyptian author and professor of sociolinguistics, currently teaching at The American University in Cairo. She has written several novels and a number of short stories and won the 2009 Sawiris Foundation Literary Prize for Young Writers for her novel Dr. Hanaa. While a substantial amount of her fiction has yet to be translated into English, her novel The Pistachio Seller was published by Syracuse University Press in 2009, and won the 2009 King Fahd Center for Middle East and Islamic Studies Translation of Arabic Literature Award. Bassiouney also won Naguib Mahfouz Award from Egypt's Supreme Council for Culture in the best Egyptian novel category for her best selling novel, The Mamluk Trilogy.

Aisha Abd al-Rahman was an Egyptian author and professor of literature who published under the pen name Bint al-Shaṭiʾ.
