Paul Gludovatz is an Austrian football manager currently managing SV Ried. He managed Austrian national youth football teams in different age brackets from 1981 to 2008.

Peter Handke is a Nobel laureate novelist, playwright, translator, poet, film director, and screenwriter from Austria. Handke was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2019.

Norbert Gerwald Hofer is an Austrian politician serving as the leader of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) since September 2019. He served as Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology from 2017 to 2019.

Gregor Schlierenzauer is an Austrian ski jumper. He is one of the sport's most successful athletes of all time, having won the Ski Jumping World Cup overall title, the Four Hills Tournament, and Nordic Tournament twice each; the Ski Flying World Cup overall title three times; as well as four medals at the Winter Olympics, twelve at the Ski Jumping World Championships, and five at the Ski Flying World Championships.

Pamela Rendi-Wagner is an Austrian physician and politician serving as the chairwoman of the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) since November 2018. She is the first woman to lead the SPÖ.

Jörg Haider was an Austrian politician. He was Governor of Carinthia on two occasions, the long-time leader of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) and later Chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Austria, a breakaway party from the FPÖ.

Adolf "Adi" Hütter is an Austrian professional football coach and former player who is the current head coach of Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt. As a player, Hütter reached the 1993–94 UEFA Cup final, won the Austrian championship three times with Austria Salzburg and won the Austrian Cup with Grazer AK. As a coach, he won the Austrian double, again in Salzburg colors, as well as the Swiss championship, with Young Boys.

Bernhard Kohl is an Austrian former professional road bicycle racer and recognized climbing specialist. After the Gerolsteiner team announced they would not be in existence for the 2009 season, Kohl signed with UCI ProTeam Silence–Lotto for three years. His biggest career achievements include becoming the Austrian national road race champion in 2006, finishing third place overall in the Dauphiné Libéré and winning the mountains classification in the 2008 Tour de France. He was 73 seconds behind winner Carlos Sastre at the completion of the event, finishing in third place in the General classification.

Jürgen Maurer is an Austrian actor. He was a regular cast member of Austrian-coproduced crime drama Tatort, and appeared in society drama Vorstadtweiber.

Maximilian I was Holy Roman Emperor from 1508 until his death. He was never crowned by the Pope, as the journey to Rome was always too risky. He was instead proclaimed emperor elect by Pope Julius II at Trent, thus breaking the long tradition of requiring a Papal coronation for the adoption of the Imperial title. Maximilian was the son of Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor, and Eleanor of Portugal. He ruled jointly with his father for the last ten years of the latter's reign, from c. 1483 until his father's death in 1493.
