During his career, he won 20 singles titles and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 4 in 1990, and a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 18 four years prior. From 1991 to 2007 he served as President of the Ballet Preljocaj, and from 1999 to 2010 he was General and Artistic Director of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. He was President of the French Youth Orchestra from 2001 to 2010. Since 2010 he has served as the Director of the Vienna State Opera. He currently serves on the board of directors for the European Academy of Music Theatre and the Conservatoire de Paris.

José Antonio Hermida Ramos is a Spanish cyclist of Galician origin specializing in competitive mountain biking. He won the silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece after having finished in fourth place in the 2000 Summer Olympics.
