Salih Muslim Muhammad is the former co-chairman of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the main party of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. As the deputy coordinator of the National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change, he was the most prominent Kurdish representative for much of the Syrian Civil War.

Rami Anis is a Syrian swimmer, who now resides in Belgium, and representing a small Refugee Olympic Team (ROT) under the Olympic flag, at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. As war took hold of his home town Aleppo, Anis fled to Turkey then, by dinghy to Greece and on to Belgium.

Nazir Jaser is a Syrian cyclist. He rode at the 2013 World Time Trial Championships and would ride again in 2017 and 2019.

Suleiman al-Halabi, also spelled Soleyman El-Halaby (1777–1800), was the man who assassinated French general Jean-Baptiste Kléber, leader of the French occupation forces in Egypt. He was tortured by burning his hand to the bone before being executed by anal impalement.

Abu Musab al-Suri, born Mustafa bin Abd al-Qadir Setmariam Nasar, is a suspected Al-Qaeda member and writer best known for his 1,600-page book The Global Islamic Resistance Call. He has held Spanish citizenship since the late 1980s following marriage to a Spanish woman. He is wanted in Spain for the 1985 El Descanso bombing, which killed eighteen people in a restaurant in Madrid, and in connection with the 2004 Madrid train bombings. He is considered by many as 'the most articulate exponent of the modern jihad and its most sophisticated strategist'.

Kaysar Dadour is a Syrian-born Brazilian actor. He became known after attending the 18th edition of Big Brother Brazil, which he was runner-up. His first prominent role as an actor was playing Fauze in the Brazilian telenovela Órfãos da Terra.

Muhammed Ahmed Faris is a Syrian military aviator. He was the first Syrian and the second Arab in space.

Raghda Mahmoud Na'na, better known by the monoynm Raghda, is a Syrian actress. She played Queen Zenobia of Palmyra in the 1997 Syrian soap opera Al-Ababeed.

Fatma Turkan Shawkat, better known by her stage name Hala Shawkat, was a Syrian actress. She was one of the leading actresses of Syrian cinema in the mid-1950s and 1960s. Shawkat also appeared in films in Algeria, Egypt, and Lebanon.
