Shi Zhengli is a Chinese virologist who researches SARS-like coronaviruses of bat origin. Shi directs the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). In 2017, Shi and her colleague Cui Jie discovered that the SARS coronavirus likely originated in a population of cave-dwelling horseshoe bats in Xiyang Yi Ethnic Township, Yunnan. She came to prominence in the popular press as "Batwoman" during the COVID-19 pandemic for her work with bat coronaviruses. Shi was included in Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2020.

Rieko Saibara is a Japanese manga artist. She made her professional debut in 1988 with Chikuro Yochien, serialized in Weekly Young Sunday. In 1989, she graduated from the Department of Visual Communication Design at Musashino Art University. Saibara has received numerous awards throughout her career, including the 43rd Bungeishunjū Manga Award in 1997 for Bokunchi; the Excellence Award at the 8th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2004 for Mainichi Kaasan; the Short Story Award at the 9th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prizes in 2005 for Mainichi Kaasan and Jōkyō Monogatari; the President of the House of Councilors Award at the 40th Japan Cartoonist Awards in 2011 for Mainichi Kaasan; and the 6th Best Mother Award for Literature in 2020.

Marie Newman is an American politician, entrepreneur, marketing consultant, and nonprofit executive serving as the U.S. representative from Illinois's 3rd congressional district since 2021. The district encompasses parts of southwestern Chicago as well as many of its nearby suburbs such as Oak Lawn, Western Springs and Lockport. Newman won election in her district to the United States House of Representatives as the Democratic nominee, following her victory against incumbent Dan Lipinski in the 2020 primary election. She had lost to Lipinski in the Democratic primary for the same seat in 2018.
