Allan C. Spradling is an American scientist and principal investigator at the Carnegie Institution for Science and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute who studies egg development in the model organism, Drosophila melanogaster, a fruit fly. He is considered a leading researcher in the developmental genetics of the fruit fly egg and has developed a number of techniques in his career that have led to greater understanding of fruit fly genetics including contributions to sequencing its genome. He is also an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University and at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

William Forsythe is an American dancer and choreographer resident in Frankfurt am Main in Hesse, Germany. He is known internationally for his work with the Ballet Frankfurt (1984–2004) and The Forsythe Company (2005–2015). Recognized for the integration of ballet and visual arts, which displayed both abstraction and forceful theatricality, his vision of choreography as an organizational practice has inspired him to produce numerous installations, films, and web-based knowledge creation, incorporating the spoken word and experimental music.

Günther Schumacher is a retired track cyclist and road bicycle racer born in East Germany, who was a professional rider from 1977 to 1984. He twice represented West Germany at the Summer Olympics, and won the gold medal on both occasions in the Men's Team Pursuit.

James Michael Harvey is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. Trained as a diplomat, he served from 1982 to 1998 in the central administration of the Holy See's Secretariat of State. From 1998 to 2012 he managed the pope's household, first for Pope John Paul II and then for Pope Benedict XVI. He was named a bishop in 1998, an archbishop in 2003, and a cardinal in 2012.

Klaus-Dieter Neubert is a retired East German rowing coxswain, who had his best achievements in the coxed pairs, together with Wolfgang Gunkel and Jörg Lucke. They won the European title in 1971 and the Olympic gold medal in 1972, and finished second at the 1973 European and 1974 World Championships. Neubert placed fourth at the 1968 Olympics with another crew.
