James Peter Hymers Mackay, Baron Mackay of Clashfern, is a British advocate. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Advocates, Lord Advocate, and Lord Chancellor (1987–1997). He is an active member of the House of Lords where he sits as a Conservative.

Giuseppe "Beppe" Merlo was an Italian tennis player, who is considered the inventor of the two-handed backhand, many years before this style of stroke was made internationally popular by Bjorn Borg and became the backhand technique preferred by the majority of recreational and professional players.

Vladimír Kobranov was an ice hockey player for the Czechoslovakian national team. He won a silver medal at the 1948 Winter Olympics and a gold medal at the 1949 world championship. In 1950 he was imprisoned with other Czech hockey players by the communist government. His career and careers of his colleagues were ended by the communist regime. In 2009 he was introduced in the Czech Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.

Dolores Olga Claman was a Canadian composer and pianist. She is best known for having composed the 1968 theme song for Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's (CBC) Hockey Night In Canada show, known simply as "The Hockey Theme", which is regarded as the country's unofficial second national anthem. She is also known for "A Place to Stand", the tune that accompanied the film of the same name at Montreal's Expo 67 Ontario pavilion. This is regarded as Ontario's unofficial provincial anthem.
