Mark Aronovich Naimark was a Soviet mathematician who made important contributions to functional analysis and mathematical physics.

Kurt Schütte was a German mathematician who worked on proof theory and ordinal analysis. The Feferman–Schütte ordinal, which he showed to be the precise ordinal bound for predicativity, is named after him. He was the doctoral advisor of 16 students, including Wolfgang Bibel, Wolfgang Maaß, Wolfram Pohlers, and Martin Wirsing.

Walter Audisio was an Italian communist partisan and politician. He was imprisoned during the late 1930s and early 1940s by the Italian fascist regime for his anti-fascist activities. As a senior partisan of the Italian resistance movement after his release during World War II, Audisio was involved in the death of Benito Mussolini, and possibly personally killed the dictator and his mistress. After the war, he was elected to parliament for the Italian Communist Party, where he served for 20 years.

Oskar Thierbach was a German professional road bicycle racer. In the 1930s, he was one of the best German road racers, finishing in the top 10 of the Tour de France twice.
