Carlos Manuel de Céspedes del Castillo was a Cuban revolutionary hero. Cespedes, who was a plantation owner in Cuba, freed his slaves and made the declaration of Cuban independence in 1868 which started the Ten Years' War (1868–78), which ultimately led to Cuban independence.

Ziyad al-Nakhalah has since 28 September 2018 been the leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), which has been designated a terrorist organisation by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Israel. Al-Nakhalah was designated a Specially Designated Terrorist by the United States in 2014.

Joris Delle is a French footballer who most recently played as a goalkeeper for Orlando Pirates in South Africa. He is a French youth international and has served as the number one goalkeeper at under-16, under-17, and under-21 level. Delle was a member of the 2005–06 Metz under-16 team that won the Championnat National des 16 ans.
