Seiken Akamine is a Japanese politician of the Japanese Communist Party, a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet.

Scott Braley a photographer and activist [not to be confused with "Scott W. Braley" - a highly-accomplished design and construction industry professional based in Atlanta, GA] was a leftist activist and a regional organizer for the Michigan State University's chapter of the Students for a Democratic Society, better known as SDS. This Braley became a member of Weatherman in 1969 and remained so until the group disbanded in 1977. This Braley was one of the original members of the Revolutionary Youth Movement, a group devoted to anti-racism and Third World struggles which later evolved into Weatherman.

Satish C. Sharma is an Indian politician. He now represents the Indian National Congress party, and is a former member of the Union Cabinet in the Government of India. Sharma's political career has been boosted by his closeness to both Rajiv Gandhi, and after his assassination, his wife and the de facto political power center of the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi. He has held seats in the Lok Sabha at the behest of both the Nehru-Gandhi family and the electorate.

John Albert Kitzhaber is an American physician and former politician. He is the longest-serving governor in Oregon's history, having served as the 35th and 37th Governor of Oregon, the only person to date to serve non-consecutive terms. He is also the only Oregon governor to resign because of a scandal. He served two terms from 1995 until 2003, another full-term from 2011 until 2015, and was sworn in for a fourth term on January 12, 2015. He resigned on February 18, 2015, with state and federal investigations into criminal allegations against him and his fiancée, Cylvia Hayes. A member of the Democratic Party, Kitzhaber previously served in the Oregon House of Representatives (1979–81) and the Oregon Senate (1981–93), including as Senate President (1985–93). He was also an emergency physician and has worked as a health care administrator.
