Valeriy Brumel
Valeriy Nikolayevich Brumel was a Soviet high jumper. The 1964 Olympic champion and multiple world record holder, he is regarded as one of the greatest athletes ever to compete in the high jump. His international career was ended by a motorcycle accident in 1965.

Valeriy Pidluzhny
Valeriy Vasylyovych Pidluzhny was a long jumper who represented the Soviet Union. Born in Donetsk, Ukrainian SSR, he trained at the city's Trudovye Rezervy. A three-time Olympian, he won two silver medals at the European Athletics Indoor Championships as well as a gold medal at the 1974 European Athletics Championships and a bronze medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics. His personal best was 8.18 m, set in the 1980 Olympic final in Moscow.

Valeriy Nikolayevich Andreev, known as The Orsk Maniac, is a Russian serial killer and rapist responsible for the abductions, rapes and killings of various girls and women in the Orenburg Oblast from 2006 to 2012. Investigators have conclusively tied him to at least 7 murders, after which he was put on a wanted list, but managed to escape. As of 2020, he remains one of the ten most dangerous criminals wanted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In total, police suspect his involvement in the disappearances of more than 100 girls and women.

Valeriy Vasylyovych Lobanovskyi was а Ukrainian football player and manager. He was the Master of Sports of USSR, the Distinguished Coach of USSR, and the laureate of the UEFA Order of Merit in Ruby (2002) and FIFA Order of Merit, the highest honour awarded by FIFA. In 2002 he was awarded the Hero of Ukraine award (posthumously), the highest Ukrainian honour, for his contribution to Ukrainian football. In 2008, Lobanovskyi was ranked 6th in the Inter's list of the 100 Greatest Ukrainians following the nation-wide vote that saw around 2.5 million people casting their votes.
