John A. Thomson was an American racecar driver. Thomson was nicknamed "the Flying Scot." He won several championships in midgets and sprint cars before competing in Championship Car racing. He won the pole position for the 1959 Indianapolis 500.

Johnny Steven Rodgers is an American former football player. He played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and won the Heisman Trophy in 1972, the first wide receiver to win the award. Rodgers played professionally in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Montreal Alouettes and in the National Football League (NFL) with the San Diego Chargers. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

He started training under Chuck Norris in the art of Tangsoodo at the Sherman Oaks Karate School in Los Angeles, California; and earned his first black belt in 1978.

He played in the NBA with four teams in ten years from 1976 to 1986, winning an NBA championship in his rookie season (1976–77) with the Portland Trail Blazers.
