Joseph Robert Theismann is an American former professional gridiron football player, sports commentator, corporate speaker and restaurateur. He rose to fame playing quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). Theismann spent 12 seasons with the Washington Redskins, where he was a two-time Pro Bowler and helped the team to consecutive Super Bowl appearances, winning Super Bowl XVII over the Miami Dolphins and losing Super Bowl XVIII. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2003.

Joseph Malcolm Harris is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the University of Virginia before being selected with the 33rd overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Joseph Hayden Thomas is a retired American football offensive tackle who played his entire 11-season professional career for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). Joe Simpson is an English mountaineer, author, and motivational speaker. While climbing in Peru in 1985, he suffered severe injuries and was thought lost after falling into a crevasse, but he survived and managed to crawl back to his base camp. Joseph Anthony Philbin is an American football coach who currently serves as the assistant head coach and offensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, a position he held from 2012 to 2015. Philbin was also the offensive coordinator of the Packers from 2007 to 2011, helping them win Super Bowl XLV over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Most recently, Philbin served as interim head coach of the Green Bay Packers for the final four games of the 2018 NFL season after serving as the offensive coordinator for the first part of the season.

In football, he was the 20th and 26th head coach in the history of the Washington Redskins in the National Football League (NFL). During his first stint in the NFL, he led the Redskins to eight playoff appearances, four NFC Championship titles, and three Super Bowl titles over 12 seasons. Gibbs is the only head coach to have won Super Bowls with three different starting quarterbacks.

Joseph Patrick Mauer, is an American former professional baseball catcher, designated hitter, and first baseman, who spent his entire 15-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the Minnesota Twins. A six-time All Star, Mauer is the only catcher in MLB history to win three batting titles, and the only catcher to ever win a batting title in the American League (AL). He also won three consecutive Gold Glove Awards (2008–2010), five Silver Slugger Awards and the 2009 AL Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award. As of 2020, he is the most recent catcher to win the MVP award in the American League.
