Dr George Harrold "Doc" Campbell was a Canadian dentist and lacrosse player who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics.

George Law Curry was a predominant American political figure and newspaper publisher in the region that eventually became the state of Oregon. A native of Pennsylvania, he published a newspaper in St. Louis, Missouri, before traveling the Oregon Trail to the unorganized Oregon Country. A Democrat, Curry served in the new Oregon Territory's government as a representative to the legislature and as Territorial Secretary before appointment as the last Governor of the Oregon Territory. Curry County in Southern Oregon is named in his honor.

George W. Emery was the eleventh governor of Utah Territory. Emery was appointed by President Ulysses S. Grant for Supervisor of Internal Revenue for the confederate states from 1870 to 1874 and governor in 1875. After his term ended in 1880, the Utah Legislature named Emery County, Utah in honor of him.

George Curry was a U.S. military officer and politician. He was governor of New Mexico Territory from 1907 to 1910, and once it became a state he represented it in the 62nd United States Congress. Curry County, New Mexico is named in his honor.

George Jones was a United States senator from Georgia. Born in Savannah, he received an academic training, studied medicine with his father, and practiced for a number of years. He participated in the American Revolutionary War. He was captured by the British Army as a prisoner of war and during 1780 and 1781 was imprisoned upon an English ship. He was later a member of the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia Senate, and during the War of 1812 he served as captain of a company of Savannah reserves. He was a member of the Savannah board of aldermen in 1793–1794, 1802–1803, and 1814–1815, and was mayor of Savannah from 1812 to 1814. He was appointed judge of the eastern judicial circuit of Georgia in 1804, and served until he became a U.S. senator, appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Abraham Baldwin and serving from August 27, 1807, to November 7, 1807, when a successor was elected.
