He is the first ever Turkish player to reach the 2nd round in a Grand Slam tournament, as well as the first Turkish player to win a Challenger Tournament and also the first Turkish player to enter the top 100 in the world ranking.

A 22-year span consisting of 54 Davis Cup ties including 43 victories has resulted in him becoming the most accomplished Davis Cup player in his nation's history. He has a very powerful first serve that he can hit at up to 235 km/h (146 mph).
