He was committed to socialist realism, and received several awards in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). After German reunification, he continued to write for leftist publishers.

Ty Panitz is an American actor. He made his screen début as a child actor in the movie Yours, Mine and Ours (2005), playing Ethan Beardsley. His other roles include Woody Forrester in How to Eat Fried Worms. Panitz has appeared in the television series Bones, as Special Agent Seeley Booth's son, Parker. He also appeared in the films Stolen Lives and Santa Buddies.
