Martin Liao Cheung-kong, JP is a non-official member of the Executive Council of Hong Kong and a member of Legislative Council of Hong Kong for Commercial (Second) constituency and a barrister.

Gongbo Liao, courtesy name Zizhou, was a disciple of Confucius. He was born in the State of Lu, Confucius' native state. His years of birth and death are unknown.

Donald Liao Poon-huai, CBE, JP is a Taiwanese-born Hong Kong government official and landscape architect. He took an instrumental role in the expansion of the public housing in Hong Kong in the 1960s and 70s, designing new types of public estates and was Secretary for Housing and chairman of the Hong Kong Housing Authority from 1980 to 1985. He became the Secretary for District Administration from 1985 to 1989.

Emperor Shizong of Liao, personal name Wuyu, sinicised name Yelü Ruan, was the third emperor of the Khitan-led Liao dynasty. He was the son of Yelü Bei, the eldest son of Abaoji, the founder of the Liao dynasty. He came to power in 947 after the death of his uncle, Emperor Taizong, who raised him in his father's absence.
