Louis Hirsch is an American actor, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, United States, and currently based in Florida. He studied at the University of Miami and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with future Star Trek: The Next Generation actress Marina Sirtis. Jorge Eduardo Hirsch is an Argentine American professor of physics at the University of California, San Diego. He is known for inventing the h-index in 2005, an index for quantifying a scientist's publication productivity and the basis of several scholar indices.

Kurt August Hirsch was a German mathematician who moved to England to escape the Nazi persecution of Jews. His research was in group theory. He also worked to reform mathematics education and became a county chess champion. The Hirsch length and Hirsch–Plotkin radical are named after him.
