Motohiko Kondo was a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party, a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet.

Olavi Juhani Mäenpää was a Finnish politician and former chairperson of the Finnish People's Blue-Whites, a political party aligned with the far-right. He was born in Tyrvää, which later became a part of Sastamala. Mäenpää was a member of the City Council of Turku, his home city, from the beginning of 1993 until he lost his seat in the 2017 election.

Maksim Borodin was a Russian investigative journalist. On 12 April 2018 he was severely injured after falling from his fifth-floor balcony in Yekaterinburg. He was placed in a coma, but died from his injuries on 15 April.

James David Rubadiri was a Malawian diplomat, academic and poet, playwright and novelist. Rubadiri is ranked as one of Africa's most widely anthologized and celebrated poets to emerge after independence.
