Grégoire Kayibanda was the first elected President of Rwanda. As pioneer of the Rwandese revolution, he led Rwanda's struggle for independence from Belgium, and replaced the Tutsi monarchy with a republican form of government. He asserted Hutu majority power.

Rajagopala Kulashekharan was an Indian music composer who worked mainly for Malayalam movies. He composed music for 52 films, and was the music conductor for more than 100 films. He is the father of music composer A. R. Rahman.

Olga Solbelli was an Italian film actress. She appeared in 81 films between 1939 and 1967. She was born in Verghereto and died in Bologna.

Harold Edwin Darke was an English composer and organist. He is particularly known for his choral compositions, which are an established part of the respertoire of Anglican church music. Darke had a long association with the church of St Michael, Cornhill, in the City of London.
