Sir Arthur Pendarves Vivian was a British industrialist, mine-owner and Liberal politician from the Vivian family, who worked in South Wales and Cornwall, and sat in the House of Commons from 1868 to 1885.

Sir Arthur Herbert Dyke Acland, 13th Baronet, PC was a Liberal politician and political author. He is best remembered for his involvement in education, serving as Vice-President of the Council of Education under William Ewart Gladstone and the Earl of Rosebery between 1892 and 1895.

Louis Georges Gouy was a French physicist. He is the namesake of the Gouy balance, the Gouy–Chapman electric double layer model and the Gouy phase.

Henry Torrens Anstruther was a Scottish Liberal Unionist politician.

Henry James Tufton, 1st Baron Hothfield, known as Sir Henry James Tufton, 2nd Baronet, from 1871 to 1881, was a British peer, Liberal politician and owner and breeder of racehorses.

Peter William Jerndorff was a Danish stage actor and opera singer. Amongst the roles he created were Dr. Rank in Ibsen's 1879 play A Doll's House and Leonard in Carl Nielsen's 1906 opera Maskarade. Towards the end of his career he taught diction and acting and appeared in Carl Dreyer's 1922 silent film Der var engang. His students included the Danish opera singers Lauritz Melchior and Vilhelm Herold. Jerndoff died in Copenhagen, the city of his birth, at the age of 84.
