Carlos Juan Finlay was a Spanish and Cuban epidemiologist recognized as a pioneer in the research of yellow fever, determining that it was transmitted through mosquitoes Aedes aegypti.

John Davis Long was an American lawyer, politician, and writer from Massachusetts. He was the 32nd Governor of Massachusetts, serving from 1880 to 1883. He later served as the Secretary of the Navy from 1897 to 1902, a period that included the primarily naval Spanish–American War.

Mirza Ebrahim Khan Rahmani (1874–1915) was the royal photographer of Mozaffar ad-Din Shah Qajar, the king of Persia. He brought photography to Persia. He later changed his last name to Mossavar-Rahmani.
