Patrick Joseph Lalor was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician and former hurling player for Laois. He was a Teachta Dála (TD) for Laois–Offaly between 1961 and 1981, and a government minister on two separate occasions during the 19th Dáil. He later represented Leinster in the European Parliament from 1979 to 1994.

Margaret Stocks née Margaret McKane (1895-1985) was an English badminton & tennis player. Born in London in 1895 she married Andrew Denys Stocks in 1921. She came to prominence the same year when winning the All England women's doubles badminton title with her younger sister Kathleen McKane. The following year the sisters reached the 1922 Wimbledon Championships women's doubles final losing out to Suzanne Lenglen and Elizabeth Ryan. The sisters won a further All England badminton doubles title in 1924 before Stocks became the singles champion in 1925.
