Kazım Ayvaz was a Turkish Olympic medalist sports wrestler in the Lightweight class and a trainer. He won the gold medal in Men's Greco-Roman wrestling at the 1964 Olympics and became World champion twice.

Tiberio Murgia was an Italian film actor. He appeared in more than 100 films between 1958 and 2009.

Victor Alexander Vyssotsky son of the astronomers Alexander N. Vyssotsky (Russian) and Emma Vyssotsky (American) was a mathematician and computer scientist. He was the technical head of the Multics project at Bell Labs and later Executive Director of Research in the Information Systems Division of AT&T Bell Labs. Multics, whilst not particularly commercially successful in itself, directly inspired Ken Thompson to develop Unix. Later, he was the founding director of Digital's Cambridge Research Lab.

Wolfgang Gröbner was an Austrian mathematician. His name is best known for the Gröbner basis, used for computations in algebraic geometry. However, the theory of Gröbner bases for polynomial rings was developed by his student Bruno Buchberger in 1965, who named them for Gröbner.
