John Brunner
John Kilian Houston Brunner was a British author of science fiction novels and stories. His 1968 novel Stand on Zanzibar, about an overpopulated world, won the 1969 Hugo Award for best science fiction novel, and the BSFA award the same year. The Jagged Orbit won the BSFA award in 1970.

John Garang
John Garang de Mabior was a Sudanese politician and revolutionary leader. From 1983 to 2005, he led the Sudan People's Liberation Army during the Second Sudanese Civil War, and following a peace agreement he briefly served as First Vice President of Sudan for 3 weeks until his death in a helicopter crash on 30 July 2005. A developmental economist by profession, Garang was a major influence on the movement that led to the foundation of South Sudan.

Dr Lo Wing-lok, JP was a Hong Kong doctor and politician. He was the Legislative Councillor for the Medical functional constituency from 2000 to 2004. He was the vice-chairman of the pro-democracy League of Social Democrats but quit the party in late 2007. He ran for the Legislative Council again in 2004, 2008 and 2012 but was not elected. He died from lung cancer in 2015.

Paul Demers was a Canadian singer-songwriter. He was best known for writing the song "Notre place", which came to be recognized as an anthem of the Franco-Ontarian community.
