Perley A. Thomas (1874–1958) was a Canadian-born American industrialist and entrepreneur. He was trained as a millsmith, and moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he was employed by a streetcar manufacturer.

Yoko Komiyama is a Japanese politician of the Democratic Party of Japan, a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet. A native of Shibuya, Tokyo and graduate of Seijo University, she worked at the public broadcaster NHK from 1972 to 1998. She was elected to the House of Councilors for the first time in 1998 and then to the House of Representatives for the first time in April 2003. In September 2011 she was appointed Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare in the cabinet of newly appointed prime minister Yoshihiko Noda.

Salwa Al Katrib was a Lebanese singer and stage actress best known for her roles in Emerald Princess and Mountain Girl. She was the wife of Nahi Lahoud and the mother of aspiring Lebanese actress and singer Aline Lahoud. She enjoyed most of her fame in the theatrical circle in Lebanon and the Arab world between 1974 and 2005. She died of cerebral hemorrhage in 2009.

Don Peter Atapattu, popularly known as D. P. Atapattu, was a Member of Parliament in Sri Lanka. Born at Nakulugamuwa Walauwa, Nakulugamuwa, Sri Lanka, he received his secondary education at St Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia and Ananda College, Colombo. After graduating from Colombo Law College, he began a law practice in Tangalle. He represented the United National Party from the Beliatta electorate in Hambantota district at six general parliamentary elections held between 1947 and 1965. He won in March 1960 and 1965, while his long-standing rival, D. A. Rajapaksa, won in 1947, 1952, 1956, and July 1960. In the 1965 Dudley Senanayake government, Atapattu was Parliamentary Secretary to the Cabinet Minister of State, J. R. Jayewardene. He died at his home in Tangalle on 14 December 1976. His son, Ranjit Atapattu, was Minister of Health from 1977 until 1989, and his grandson, Druvindra Atapattu, contested the 2009 General Election.
