Caonabo was a Taíno cacique (chieftain) of Hispaniola at the time of Christopher Columbus's arrival to the island. He was known for his fighting skills and his ferocity. He was married to Anacaona, who was the sister of another cacique named Bohechío.

Pope Adrian II was the bishop of Rome and ruler of the Papal States from 867 to his death. He continued the policy of his predecessor, Nicholas I. Despite seeking good relations with Louis II of Italy, he was placed under surveillance, and his wife and daughters were killed by Louis' supporters.

Roger de Clifford, Lord of Appleby, Master of Topcliffe, was an English noble. He participated in Edward I's conquest of Wales in 1282. From Anglesey, an English force crossed over the Menai Strait where they were defeated at the Battle of Moel-y-don, and Clifford was slain during the battle.
