His grandfather, P. T. Rajan, was the Chief Minister of Madras Presidency from 4 April 1936, to 24 August 1936. He was also the last President of the Justice Party. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election in 2016 and 2021 from Madurai Central.

Ghulam Nabi Azad is an Indian politician of the Indian National Congress and was the Minister of Health and Family Welfare. Presently, he serves as the Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha. He has served as the Parliamentary Affairs Minister of India in the government of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh until 27 October 2005, when he was appointed as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He also led the party successfully in the 2002 Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir.

She is best known outside of Sweden for hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, co-hosting the Eurovision Song Contest's Greatest Hits in 2015, as well as the 2016 edition.
