Ibn Kathir
Abu al-Fiḍā ‘Imād Ad-Din Ismā‘īl ibn ‘Umar ibn Kathīr al-Qurashī Al-Damishqī, known as Ibn Kathīr (ابن كثير, was a highly influential historian, exegete and scholar during the Mamluk era in Syria. An expert on Tafsir and Fiqh, he wrote several books, including a fourteen-volume universal history titled Al-Bidaya wa'l-Nihaya
ʻAlī Ṭanṭāwī
Ali Al-Tantawi is a Syrian jurist, writer, and judge, and he is considered one of the leading figures in Islamic preaching and Arab literature in the twentieth century. He was a writer who wrote in many Arab newspapers for many years, the most important of which was what he wrote in the Egyptian magazine Al-Risala by its owner Ahmed Hassan Al-Zayyat, and he continued to write about it for twenty years from 1933 until it became concealed in 1953. He worked from his youth in primary and secondary education in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon until a year 1940. He left education and entered the judiciary. He was recipient of the King Faisal Prize in 1990 for his services for Islam.
Julia Domna
Julia Domna was Roman empress consort from 193 to 211. She was born in Emesa in Roman Syria to an Arab family of priests of the deity Elagabalus. In 187, she married Libyan-born Septimius Severus, who at the time was governor of the Roman province of Gallia Lugdunensis. They had two sons, Caracalla and Geta. A civil war over the Roman throne broke out in 193, and shortly afterwards Severus declared himself emperor. The war ended in 197 with the defeat of the last of Severus's opponents.
