Alexander Altmann was an Orthodox Jewish scholar and rabbi born in Kassa, Austria-Hungary. He emigrated to England in 1938 and later settled in the United States, working productively for a decade and a half as a professor within the Philosophy Department at Brandeis University. He is best known for his studies of the thought of Moses Mendelssohn, and was indeed the leading Mendelssohn scholar since the time of Mendelssohn himself. He also made important contributions to the study of Jewish mysticism, and for a large part of his career he was the only scholar in the United States working on this subject in a purely academic setting. Among the many Brandeis students whose work he supervised in this area were Elliot Wolfson, Arthur Green, Heidi Ravven, Paul Mendes-Flohr, Lawrence Fine, and Daniel Matt.

Ludwig Angerer was an Austrian photographer who founded the first photo studio in Vienna and was appointed k.k. court photographer by Emperor Franz Joseph I. He is also known for taking some of the earliest photographs of Bucharest.

Anton Lehmden was an Austrian painter, draughtsman, and printmaker.

Michal Kováč was the first President of Slovakia, having served from 1993 through 1998.

Peter Hochschorner is a Slovak slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 1996. Competing together with his twin brother Pavol Hochschorner, they are the most successful C2 paddlers in the history of canoe slalom.

Adam Nemec is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as a forward for Liga I side Dinamo București. In his career, he has played in 7 different countries but mostly for teams in Germany. During 13 years international career, he won 43 caps and scoring 13 goals.

Marek Maďarič is a Slovak politician for the Direction - Social Democracy. He was between 4 April 2012 and 28 February 2018 Minister of Culture in Robert Fico's Second and Third Cabinets. Maďarič resigned as minister in the aftermath of the assassination of Ján Kuciak.
