Gaspare Mutolo is a Sicilian mafioso, also known as "Asparino". In 1992 he became a pentito. He was the first mafioso who spoke about the connections between Cosa Nostra and Italian politicians. Mutolo’s declarations contributed to the indictment of Italy’s former Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti and to an understanding of the context of the 1992 Mafia murders of the politician Salvo Lima and the magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino.

Giuseppe "Joe" Profaci was an Italian-born New York City La Cosa Nostra boss who was the founder of what became the Colombo crime family. Established in 1928, this was the last of the Five Families to be organized. He was the family's boss for over three decades.

Giuseppe "Pippo" Calò is an Italian mobster and member of the Sicilian Mafia in Porta Nuova. He was referred to as the "cassiere di Cosa Nostra" because he was heavily involved in the financial side of organized crime, primarily money laundering. He was arrested in 1985 and charged with ordering the murder of Roberto Calvi – nicknamed "Il banchiere di Dio" – of the Banco Ambrosiano in 1982, but was acquitted in 2007 due to "insufficient evidence" in a surprise verdict. After Calò was sentenced to 23 years' imprisonment as part of the 1986/87 Maxi Trial, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1989 for organising the 1984 Train 904 bombing. He was given several further life sentences between 1995 and 2002.

Emanuele "Lino" Saputo, is an Italian-Canadian billionaire businessman. He is the founder of the Canadian cheese manufacturer Saputo Inc. According to Forbes, he is the 8th richest person in Canada and the 339th richest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of US$5.2 billion as of February 2020.

Giuseppe Vittorio Raimondo Baudo, known as Pippo Baudo, is one of the most famous Italian television presenters. He is often referred to as "Superpippo". Baudo has also been the artistic director and president of Teatro Stabile di Catania.

Ignazio Benito Maria La Russa is an Italian politician. He was Minister of Defence in the fourth cabinet of Silvio Berlusconi. He is the Vice President of the Senate of the Republic in the XVIII Legislature (2018–today).

Salvatore Giuliano was a Sicilian bandit, who rose to prominence in the disorder which followed the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943. In September of that year, Giuliano became an outlaw after shooting and killing a police officer who tried to arrest him for black-market food smuggling when 70% of Sicily's food supply was provided by the black market. He maintained a band of subordinates for most of his career. He was a flamboyant, high-profile criminal, attacking the police at least as often as they sought him. In addition, he was a local power-broker in Sicilian politics between 1945 and 1948, including his role as a nominal colonel for the Movement for the Independence of Sicily. He and his band were held legally responsible for the Portella della Ginestra massacre, though there is some doubt about their role in the numerous deaths which occurred.

Vincenzo La Russa was an Italian politician. A member of the Christian Democracy party and the Christian Democratic Centre, he served in the Senate of the Republic from 1979 to 1983 and again from 1994 to 1996 as well as the Chamber of Deputies from 1983 to 1987.
