Erich Grützner was an East German Trades unionist and a senior official in the country's ruling SED (party).

Marlies Rostock is a former East German cross-country skier who competed from 1978 to 1980. She won a gold medal in the 4 × 5 km relay at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York.

Herbert Richter is a retired East German track cyclist. He had his best achievements in the 4000m team pursuit event, winning silver medals at the world championships in 1970 and 1971 and at the 1972 Summer Olympics.

Gabriele Zange is a retired German speed skater who specialized in the long distances, winning three Olympic bronze medals in these events in 1984 and 1988. In 1981 she won a European bronze medal in the 3000 m and later set a world record at the high-altitude rink of Medeo. In 1984, she won European championships, setting two world records, in the 5000 m (7:39.44) and allround, and finished third at the world championships. Next year she won a silver at the world championships, but then had no success until the 1987–88 season, when she set her fourth world record and won two Olympics medals. She retired soon after the 1988 Olympics and worked as a physiotherapist.

Udo Wagner is a German fencer. He won a silver medal in the individual foil event for East Germany at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Four years later, he won a gold in the team foil event for Germany at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
