Zhan Xugang is a former male Chinese weightlifter and later politician who won the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games. He is the first Chinese weightlifter to win two consecutive Olympics.

Peng Chang-kuei was a Taiwanese chef who is generally credited with being the creator of General Tso's chicken, a popular Chinese dish in Western countries.

Wei Guoqing was a Chinese government official, military officer and political commissar. He served on the Communist Party of China's Politburo (1973–1982) and as Director of the People's Liberation Army's General Political Department (1977–1982). Wei was one of the few members of the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Central Committees (1969–1987) and the 10th through 12th politburos not purged during the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (GPCR) or Deng Xiaoping's backlash. He was also a Vice Chair of the National People's Congress Standing Committee (1975–1989) and of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (1964–1983).

Sir Yue-Kong Pao CBE JP, was the founder of Hong Kong's Worldwide Shipping Group which in the 20 years from purchasing its first second-hand ship in 1955 became by far the largest shipping company in the world with over 20 million tonnes deadweight (DWT) . Anticipating the seriousness of the shipping downturn starting in the late 1970s, he drastically reduced his fleet and was able to pay off associated debt and raise cash to diversify his interests notably through the purchase of a controlling stake in The Hongkong and Kowloon Wharf and Godown Company Limited and later Wheelock Marden giving an exposure to Hong Kong real estate, shipping terminals, retail, ferries and trams. He was noted for his unmatched access to leaders in both the commercial and political arenas and was equally at ease with Western political leaders and the Chinese leadership in the run up to Hong Kong's ceasing to be a British colony in 1997. He was also a generous philanthropist notably in educational projects. He died in 1991 but his corporate legacy continues to be controlled and run by his family.

Wang Chiu-Hwa was a Taiwanese architect noted for her work with libraries in Taiwan. Due to the many libraries she designed and the fact she pioneered the earliest modern university library in Taiwan, Wang was given the unofficial title of "Taiwan’s 'Mother of Libraries'".

Shen Congwen, formerly romanized as Shen Ts'ung-wen, is considered to be one of the greatest modern Chinese writers, on par with Lu Xun. Regional culture and identity plays a much bigger role in his writing than that of other major early modern Chinese writers. He was known for combining the vernacular style with classical Chinese writing techniques. Shen is the most important of the "native soil" writers in modern Chinese literature. Shen Congwen published many excellent compositions in his life, the most famous of which is the novella Border Town. This story is about the old ferryman and his granddaughter Cuicui's love story. Shen Congwen and his wife Zhang Zhaohe were married in 1933, Shen Congwen and Zhang Zhaohe had two sons after their marriage.

Yu Weiguo is a Chinese politician and the current Communist Party Secretary of Fujian. He formerly served as Deputy Communist Party Secretary and Governor of Fujian, and Communist Party Secretary of Xiamen.

Sun Yaoting was the last surviving imperial eunuch of Chinese history. He was castrated at the age of eight by his father with a single razor cut, mere months before the last emperor Pu Yi was deposed. He still became a palace eunuch and had become the attendant to the empress before the imperial family was expelled from the Forbidden City, following which he continued to serve in Manchukuo until the puppet state's collapse.

Wang Rulin is a Chinese politician and senior regional official. He is serving as Vice-Chairperson of the National People's Congress Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. From 2014 to 2016, Wang was the Communist Party Secretary of Shanxi province, where he managed anti-corruption efforts as part of the greater anti-corruption campaign under Xi Jinping. Wang formerly served as Party Secretary (2012–14) and Governor (2009–12) of Jilin province.

Lin Duo is a Chinese politician currently serving as Communist Party secretary of Gansu province. He formerly served as Communist Party Secretary and Mayor of Harbin, and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of Liaoning Province.
