Zhang Qi is a former Chinese politician who spent most of his career in Hainan province. He was investigated by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, the highest anti-corruption agency of China, in September 2019. Previously he served as Party chief of Haikou, capital of Hainan province. Zhang is the first senior official who was placed under investigation in Hainan since the Communist Party of China's 19th National Congress in late 2017 and the fourth incumbent provincial level official was sacked for graft since then.

The Third Trijang Rinpoche, Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso (1901–1981) was a Gelug Lama and a direct disciple of Pabongkhapa Déchen Nyingpo. He succeeded Ling Rinpoche as the junior tutor of the 14th Dalai Lama when the Dalai Lama was nineteen years old. He was also a lama of many Gelug Lamas who taught in the West including Zong Rinpoche, Geshe Rabten and Lama Yeshe. Trijang Rinpoche's oral teachings were recorded by Zimey Rinpoche in a book called the Yellow Book.

Li Na is a Chinese épée fencer. She won a bronze medal in the women's team épée event at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and won gold in the same event at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Sonam Gyatso was the first to be named Dalai Lama, although the title was retrospectively given to his two predecessors.

Feng Zhe is a male Chinese gymnast. He is the 2010 World Champion and the 2012 Olympic Champion on the parallel bars. He was also part of the Chinese team that won the team gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Ma Jin is a badminton player from China who specialises in women's and mixed doubles. She partnered Wang Xiaoli in women's doubles and excelled in the category until 2010 when both players are split after China failed to defend their Uber Cup against South Korea in Kuala Lumpur. Consequently, Ma Jin was unable to continue competing in the women's doubles event without her regular partner and she had to concentrate on mixed doubles instead. Ma Jin had tasted successes in mixed with several partners, notably Zheng Bo, He Hanbin and Xu Chen. Her domination at the front of the court combined with the power play from Xu Chen made them one of the most dominant Chinese pairs to date, the other being Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei.

Fu Biao was a Chinese actor.

Gedun Gyatso, also Gendun Gyatso Palzangpo, was considered posthumously to be the second Dalai Lama.

Ding Liren is a Chinese chess grandmaster. He is the highest rated Chinese chess player in history and is also a three-time Chinese Chess Champion. He is the winner of the 2019 Grand Chess Tour, beating Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in the final and won the Sinquefield Cup in 2019 as the first player since 2007 to beat Magnus Carlsen in a playoff. Ding is the first Chinese player ever to play in a Candidates Tournament and pass the 2800 Elo mark on the FIDE world rankings. In July 2016, with a Blitz rating of 2875, he was the highest rated Blitz player in the world.
