Nawal El Zoghbi
Nawal El Zoghbi is a Lebanese pop singer.
Elie Hobeika
Elie Hobeika was a commander in the Lebanese Forces militia during the Lebanese Civil War where he gained notoriety for his involvement in the Sabra and Shatila massacre. He became president of the Lebanese Forces political party until he was ousted in 1986. He then founded the Promise Party and was elected to serve two terms in the Parliament of Lebanon. In January 2002, he was assassinated by a car bomb at his house in Beirut.
Nadine Labaki
Nadine Labaki is a Lebanese actress, director and activist. Labaki first came into the spotlight as an actress in the early 2000s. Her film-making career began in 2007 after the release of her debut film, Caramel, which premiered at the Cannes 2007 Film Festival. She is known for demonstrating everyday aspects of Lebanese life and covering a range of political issues such as war, poverty, and feminism. She is the first female Arab director to be nominated for an Oscar in the category for Best Foreign Language Film.
Ramy Ayach
Ramy Abu Ayach is a Lebanese singer, composer, actor, and philanthropist. Commonly referred to as the "Pop Star" in the Arab world for his impact and contribution to the contemporary Arab music scene and Pop Culture, Ayach is a winner of the most prestigious Pan-Arab awards, and is behind some of the most recognizable Arab hits of the modern era such as "Mabrouk", "Albi Mal", "Khalini Ma3ak", "El Nas El Ray2a", and "Majnoun". Also an actor, his most recent role was in the hit drama series "Amir El Leil. In addition to being an accomplished artist, Ayach is also the founder of the biggest NGO led by an artist: the "Ayach Al Tofoula Foundation", which is solely dedicated to the education and empowerment of children.
Elias Rahbani
Elias Hanna Rahbani was a Lebanese musician, composer, songwriter, orchestra conductor and reality television personality sitting as judge on a number of talent shows. He composed more than 2500 songs including 2000 in Arabic. He wrote the soundtrack for more than 25 films, a number of TV series, and also composed musical scores for the piano. He composed songs for a great number of artists including Fairuz and Sabah.
Jacky Chamoun
Jackie Chamoun is an alpine skier who began skiing at an early age in Mzaar Kfardebian, Lebanon. As of age 14, she started participating in professional skiing events all around the world. She participated in FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2009 as well as in 2013. She has skied for Lebanon at the Winter Olympics in 2010 and 2014.
Nasrallah Peter Sfeir
Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir was the patriarch of Lebanon's largest Christian body, the Maronite Church, an Eastern Catholic Church in communion with the Holy See. He was also given the honorific title of cardinal. He was elected Patriarch of Antioch for the Maronites on 27 April 1986, and his resignation was accepted on 26 February 2011. He was the 76th patriarch of the Maronite Church, with the official title of "His Beatitude the 76th Patriarch of Antioch and the Whole Levant".
Dany Chamoun
Dany Chamoun was a prominent Lebanese politician. A Maronite Christian, the younger son of former President Camille Chamoun and brother of Dory Chamoun, Chamoun was also a politician in his own right, and was known for his devout defense of Lebanon.
Assi Rahbani
Assi Rahbani was a Lebanese composer, musician and producer. He was part of the Rahbani Brothers, with his brother Mansour Rahbani. He married Lebanese singer Nouhad Haddad, more famous by her stage name, Fairuz. Their son Ziad Rahbani is also a very successful artist in music, theatre, and an influential political activist.
