Oliver "Ollie" Riedel is a German musician, best known as the bassist for German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein.
Sylvia Bretschneider
Sylvia Bretschneider was a German teacher, education administrator and politician (SPD). She was a member of the Landtag of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from 1994, and became speaker of the state parliament in 2002.
Otto Lilienthal
Karl Wilhelm Otto Lilienthal was a German pioneer of aviation who became known as the "flying man". He was the first person to make well-documented, repeated, successful flights with gliders. Newspapers and magazines published photographs of Lilienthal gliding, favourably influencing public and scientific opinion about the possibility of flying machines becoming practical. On 9 August 1896, his glider stalled and he was unable to regain control. Falling from about 15 m (50 ft), he broke his neck and died the next day.
Christian Schwochow
Christian Schwochow is a German film director. He has directed more than ten films since 2005. Including TV movie "Bornholmer Straße" on the ARD channel. A tragicomedy about the fall of the Berlin Wall. Schwochow also directed episodes of season 3 of the Netflix series The Crown.
Karin Struck
Karin Struck was a German author. She won the "Rauriser Literature Prize" and the "Andreas Gryphius Prize." She had generally been seen as a writer of women's literature and to the Left. However, in 1991 and 1992 she expressed her opposition to abortion and regret at having had one. She has been described by one feminist source as "one of the most outspoken female writers who openly opposes abortion." In 1996 she converted to the Roman Catholic Church.
Udo Proksch
Udo Proksch was an Austrian businessman and industrialist. In 1991, he was convicted of the murder of six people as part of a major insurance fraud. Proksch died in prison.
Wilhelm von Gloeden
Wilhelm Iwan Friederich August Freiherr von Gloeden was a German photographer who worked mainly in Italy. He is mostly known for his pastoral nude studies of Sicilian boys, which usually featured props such as wreaths or amphoras, suggesting a setting in the Greece or Italy of antiquity. From a modern standpoint, his work is commendable due to his controlled use of lighting as well as the often elegant poses of his models. His innovations include the use of photographic filters and special body makeup to disguise skin blemishes.
