Julius Ernst, Duke of Brunswick-Dannenberg
Julius Ernest, Duke of Brunswick and Lunenburg (1571–1636), Prince of Dannenberg, was a son of Henry III, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg and Ursula of Saxe-Lauenburg. On his father's death in 1598 he inherited the Principality of Dannenberg. He died without male issue, and so the Dannenberg principality and his share of Hitzacker was inherited by his brother Augustus.

Fritz Mackensen
Fritz Mackensen was a German painter of the Düsseldorf school of painting and Art Nouveau. He was a friend of Otto Modersohn and Hans am Ende, and was one of the co-founders of the artists' colony at Worpswede. From 1933 to 1935 he was head of the Nordische Kunsthochschule in Bremen. In 1937 he became a member of the Nazi Party. He was buried in the Worpswede Cemetery.
Maurice de Saxe
Maurice, Count of Saxony was a notable soldier, officer and a famed military commander of the 18th century. The son of Augustus II the Strong, King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, he initially served in the Army of the Holy Roman Empire, then the Imperial Army before finally entering French service. De Saxe became a Marshal and even Marshal General of France. He is best known for his deeds in the War of the Austrian Succession and for his decisive victory at the Battle of Fontenoy especially. He is honoured by the Walhalla Memorial.
