André Jacob Roubo
André Jacob Roubo (1739–1791) was a French carpenter, cabinetmaker and author. Roubo was born and died in Paris, and was the son and grandson of master cabinetmakers. Roubo wrote several highly influential books on woodworking, an achievement which was especially notable given his relatively poor background and self-taught methods.
François-Augustin de Paradis de Moncrif
François-Augustin de Paradis de Moncrif was a French writer and poet, of a family originally of Scots origin. He was appointed historiographer royal to Louis XV of France. His parody of owlishly pedantic scholarship, Histoire des chats, and the protection of the house of Orléans gained him entry to the Académie française. Maurepas records in his memoirs that at the induction ceremony, a member let loose a cat he had secreted in his pocket: the cat miaowed, the Académiciens miaowed and the serious oration dissolved in laughter.
André Barde
André Barde was the pseudonym of André Bourdonneau, a French writer best known for his libretti for operettas. He was active from 1899-1936. He frequently collaborated with Charles Cuvillier - Son petit frère (1907), Afgar (1909), La Reine joyeuse (1912), Florabella (1921), and Nonnette (1922) being some examples. His works include Pas sur la bouche, which has been filmed twice.
