Émile Boutroux
Étienne Émile Marie Boutroux was an eminent 19th century French philosopher of science and religion, and an historian of philosophy. He was a firm opponent of materialism in science. He was a spiritual philosopher who defended the idea that religion and science are compatible at a time when the power of science was rising inexorably. His work is overshadowed in the English-speaking world by that of the more celebrated Henri Bergson. He was elected membership of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences in 1898 and in 1912 to the Académie française.

Serge Lang
Serge Lang was a French-American mathematician and activist who taught at Yale University for most of his career. He is known for his work in number theory and for his mathematics textbooks, including the influential Algebra. He received the Frank Nelson Cole Prize in 1960 and was a member of the Bourbaki group.
Madeleine Robinson
Madeleine Robinson was a French actress. She was born to a French mother and Czech father near Paris. She was orphaned at the age of 14, and worked to support herself and her two younger brothers, but enjoyed watching plays. She then studied under Charles Dullin. Her first lead role was in Forty Little Mothers (1936). During the Occupation of France, she had a prominent role in Love Story and Lumière d'été, and The Bellman (1945). Because she had acted during the Occupation, Robinson found it difficult to get work afterwards, but again came to prominence in Une si jolie petite plage (1949). Madeleine Robinson won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress in 1959 for her role in À double tour. In 2001, she was awarded a Molière d'honneur for her contribution to the field.
