Ivo Banac was a Croatian-American historian, a professor of European history at Yale University and a politician of the former Liberal Party in Croatia, known as the Great Bard of Croatian historiography. As of 2012, Banac was a consultant for the Bosnian Institute. He died after a serious illness at age 73.

Dubravka Šuica is a Croatian politician who has been Vice-President of the European Commission for Democracy and Demography since 2019. She previously served as a member of the European Parliament from 2013 to 2019, and as mayor of Dubrovnik from 2001 to 2009.

Davor Dominiković is a Croatian former professional handball player, who is the current handball coach for the Croatia national under-21 team & TuS Vinnhorst.

Savka Dabčević-Kučar was a Croatian communist politician. She was one of the most influential Croatian female politicians during the communist period, especially during the Croatian Spring when she was deposed. She returned to politics during the early days of Croatian independence as the leader of the Coalition of People's Accord and the Croatian People's Party. From 1967 to 1969 she served as the Chairman of the 5th Executive Council of the Socialist Republic of Croatia, one of eight constituent republics and autonomous provinces of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia. She was the first woman in Europe to be appointed head of government of a political entity and the first female in the post-World War II Croatia to hold an office equivalent to a head of government.

Tereza Ana Kesovija is an internationally acclaimed Croatian recording artist. She was one of the most recognizable figures on the music scene in former Yugoslavia, and is renowned for her wide vocal range and operatic style. She also had a successful career in France. She has held many concerts around the world, being one of the few Yugoslav musicians to have sold out shows in The Royal Albert Hall, L'Olympia and Carnegie Hall.

Andro Vlahušić is a Croatian politician. A physician by vocation and member of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Vlahušić was a member of the Croatian Parliament (2000–2001) and Minister of Health in the second cabinet of Ivica Račan (2001–2003). From 2009 to 2017, he served as mayor of Dubrovnik.

Federico Seismit-Doda, born in Ragusa (Dubrovnik), in the Kingdom of Dalmatia, 1825 and died in Rome 1893. He was an Italian politician. He graduated from the University of Padua and collaborated at Caffè Pedrocchi; in 1849 fought with the volunteers in Veneto and in 1849 participated in the defence of Roman Republic. After exile to Greece and to Piedmont in 1850, he collaborated in various newspapers and magazines, and published a volume of his memories Venetian Volunteers.
