Thomas Chittenden
Thomas Chittenden was a major figure in the early history of Vermont, and was leader of the territory for nearly two decades. Chittenden was the first and third governor of the state of Vermont, serving from 1778 to 1789, when Vermont was a largely unrecognized independent state, called the Vermont Republic, and again after a year out of office, from 1790 until his death. During his first term after his return to office, Vermont was admitted to the Union as the 14th state.
Guy Hedlund
Guy Elmer Hedlund was an American actor of the silent era. He appeared in 120 films between 1906 and 1947. Born in Connecticut, Hedlund died in Culver City in a road accident. Hedlund directed the 1920 industrial film The Making of an American.
Orlow W. Chapman
Orlow W. Chapman was born in 1832, in Ellington, Connecticut, though he made his life’s work and home in New York City. While in Ellington, Chapman received his primary education in a local academy. He then proceeded to graduate from Union College of Schenectady, New York, in 1854. After earning his undergraduate degree, he spent two years as Professor of Languages in the Fergusonville Academy in Delaware County. Chapman then studied law under Robert Parker of Binghamton, New York. In 1856, he was admitted to the bar.
Oliver H. Prince
Oliver Hillhouse Prince was an editor, attorney and politician, elected as United States Senator by the Georgia state legislature in 1828. Born in Connecticut, he had migrated as a child with his parents to Georgia, where he grew up. After working as a journalist and attorney, he was elected to the state senate. He prepared A Digest of the Laws of the State of Georgia (1822), for 30 years the most important collection of the laws.
