Jules Brunet
Jules Brunet was a French Army officer who played a famous role in the Japanese Boshin War. He was sent to Japan with the French military mission of 1867 and after the defeat of the shōgun had an important role in the Republic of Ezo. He later became a General and Chief of Staff of the French Minister of War in 1898.
Jules Grévy
François Judith Paul Grévy was President of France from 1879 to 1887, and one of the leaders of the Opportunist Republican faction. Given that his predecessors were monarchists who tried without success to restore the French monarchy, Grévy is seen as the first real republican President of France.
Philippe Grenier
Philippe Grenier was a French politician who served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies for Doubs from 1896 to 1898. He became a convert to Islam during a trip to French Algeria in 1894 and later the first Muslim member of the French Parliament in history.
