He studied in the National Conservatory in Mexico City and later in the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam, with Marijke Miessen and Walter van Hauwe. Franco has used the recorder from the traditional forms of medieval, Renaissance music and baroque—including Latin American colonial music—to contemporary, folkloric and popular.

Edgar Schmitt is a German former professional footballer who played as a striker. He notably scored four goals in Karlsruher SC's 7–0 win against Valencia CF in the second round of the 1993–94 UEFA Cup, a win which came to be known as the "Wunder vom Wildpark". That season he also became the competition's top scorer with 8 goals, alongside Dennis Bergkamp.
